Crappy sketch time!

I'm in the middle of making some minor changes to some of my characters' appearances and one of them is cutting Hollys hair.

Actually, I've been thinking about doing this for quite some time now and I'm happy with her new look! The long hair was adorable and I'm probably going to miss drawing it but honestly - this was long overdue. I've been kinda sick of it and also, this new, flowy cut suits her overall personality more and there's a lot she can do with it. Her hair is also lighter now! I always wanted it to look more "obviously bleached" but then, I had too much fun with the yellow-deep-pink colour combo. xD

If you hate me now - go ahead! Guess I can't do anything about that. ;D And I actually understand that some of you might be dissapointed now. But also keep in mind that Holly isn't only hair. She's a character! I rather want people to like her for who she is than for long, shiny hair only.

Real people change all the time, too! And you don't like them less for doing so. Why shouldn't this apply to fictional characters as well?

I have to say I really love her with short hair. It changes the look of her face so much, too, especially the overall shape. Nice decision.

Wait, people can't seriously be like REALLY upset about this, can they? I hope I'm having a Sheldon moment of not getting sarcasm. o_O

Anyway, I totally love it! Your characters have so much personality and are so real already, this (changes like this) just add to that! It's not like you're making a super-drastic change like replacing Jodie Foster with Julianne Moore.

Haha, well. I have only gotten positive reactions so far but I already experienced so much on this site that would be funny if it wasn't so sad/terrible. People being personally offended by artist's interpretations of existing characters ("OMG, she's supposed to be pretty, you know?! You draw her too fat/ugly/whatever!" and whatnot), people interpreting all kinds of stuff into artwork that isn't necessarily the case and then going batshit about it (someone uses a slightly lighter tone for a skin --> "EVIL WHITEWASHER, THE WORLD SUCKS BECAUSE OF PEOPLE LIKE YOU!"), simply stupid and meaningless comments that are not about having a "personal opinion" but are just annoying/hurful/tactless/whatever.... DA can be a nice place but since I've experienced some of the crap myself, also with my own characters ("No offense but this Holly character totally looks like a man."), I've just become very, very cautious, you know? I just like to mention some things beforehand because I'm already slightly paranoid. I just wanna be safe. xD
But well, only awesome reactions so far, so everything's fine!

And... exactly! Only minor little tweaks. All their appearances are supposed to stay the same! Not counting possible style/drawing/character improvements right now, etc that might still happen in the future, but still. Overall, everyone's supposed to stay the same.
